Part B is 50% citric acid solution. On its own, sodium chlorite is stable and does nothing. Mix the two one-to-one and they release chlorine dioxide, the water treatment chemical public water plants have used for decades.

Part A: 28% Sodium Chlorite Solution
Part B: Acid Activator (either 4% Hydrochloric Acid or 50% Citric Acid, depending on your purchase)
Both activators make the same chlorine dioxide. Citric turns a deeper amber and is the easy default. Hydrochloric acid activates faster and keeps longer on the shelf.
- In a clean glass or plastic cup, never metal, add 5 drops of Part A.
- Add 5 drops of Part B.
- Gently swirl and wait 1 minute. The mix turns amber. That is the chlorine dioxide forming.
- Add it to 1 gallon of water and mix well.

Keep both bottles in a cool, dark place. A pantry works. Keep away from sunlight and heat. Do not freeze. For long storage, use the screw caps, not the droppers, so less air gets in.

- It is not a filter: it does not remove lead, metals, salt, or fuel. For those you need a filter or a different source.
- Muddy water: pour it through a clean cloth first, then treat it.

I liked getting a product that utilizes oxidation to achieve water purification and useful for cleaning store bought vegetables and fruits like hydrogen peroxide can do but less powerful than hydrogen peroxide as hydrogen peroxide can supposedly be harmful to human cells if care is not used.

our family has been using this product for some time. It is an excellent product. I have used it on spots on my skin and in a few days it is gone. We use it in our drinking water but be aware too strong of a mixture will smell like bleach. Works excellent where male cats spray or any cat pees. Totally destroys the odor. Many ,many other uses.
